The courses
The basic concept of the 2018 SUMMER CAMP for primary education students is to introduce them to STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math). We aim at increasing the students’ emotional engagement, help them interact with physical device and start learning by doing multidisciplinary tasks and projects via constructivism. By following LEGO’s Educational 4Cs (Connect-Construct-Contemplate-Continue) and working with LEGO WeDO 2.0 set, hopefully, students will understand the implications of robotics and technology in everyday life, gain a sense of belonging in a working group, experience the pleasure of achieving, create robotic prototypes and engage in coding and programming.
In a high-tech global economy and society, ICT skills need to be developed and enhanced from an early age and remain up-to-date throughout one’s life. Designed in modules, the 2018 SUMMER CAMP for secondary education students introduces them to a wide range of tools on communication, time and desk management, text and data processing, audiovisual production, presentations, educational video games, safe internet, piracy and copyright, robotics, counseling and career orientation, just to name a few. We aim at facilitating students acquire and enhance Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, guiding them to Content and English language learning (CLIL), increasing their social and organizational skills, engaging them emotionally and helping them develop personally and academically and assisting them towards realizing their potentials and gaining insights into career prospects. By working via tasks and projects, hopefully, students will experiment with software, ICT simulations, e-games etc., present and explain tasks, express an opinion in fluent English, collaborate with others, manage time and resources for tasks, solve problems, tackle situations and complete tasks and elaborate on and produce representations of their thoughts and ideas whilst gaining a sense of achievement.
